Our ministry here is so diverse but one thing is for sure-- there is no shortage of opportunities to help people. In some of our ministries we minister to people by the thousands, in other situations it’s one on one. There was a song several years ago that said “how do you touch a million hearts, start one by one…”
In the early stages of our child sponsorship ministry we wrote about one of our families whose children are under sponsorship. The father was discipled under our prison ministry and Les had the privilege of baptizing him. Several years ago the father was sent off to Manila to the death row section of the National Penitentiary.
We mentioned in that newsletter several years ago that the oldest daughter Irene was graduating from high school and desired to go to college. Unfortunately with their family situation the way it was, this was a financial impossibility. Several who read that newsletter responded to our appeal to provide a college education for Irene.
Last May Irene graduated with her bachelor’s degree in business administration. Now she will be able to work and help her mother meet the financial needs of the family. Presently Irene accompanied six of our sponsored kids to the United States to join with the Children of the World International Children’s Choir until May of 2005.
Praise God for those who responded to Irene’s need and now she indeed has a brighter future. |
